Sensex trips slightly in intra-noon trade
Mumbai, Aug 31 (UNI) Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) went down by two points in the intra-noon trade on bargain hunting and profit-booking, after opening 30 points in the green.
Currently, the Sensex is trading at 11,722.29 points with Mid-cap down 0.51 per cent and and the Smallcap down 0.84 per cent.
Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Consumer Durables was leading the losers with a dent of 1.17 per cent in its value followed by Auto, which was down by 0.76 per cent. Metals was down by 0.71 per cent and the Teck sector was down by 0.39 per cent, whereas the list of gainers included FMCG, which was up by 0.62 per cent. Bankex was up by 0.42 per cent and HC up by 0.21 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were ITC, Cipla, Grasim Industries, ICICI, Infosys, TCS, Hindalco, SBI, HDFC and ONGC, all up between 0.36 to 1.57 per cent.
Among the losers were Reliance Communications, Tata Motors, HDFC, Satyam, BHEL, Tata Steel, Bhati Airtel, Maruti Udyog, Wipro and ACC all down between 0.5f4 to 1,38 per cent.
