Rs 4 crore synthetic track for Devi Lal Sports Complex

Chandigarh, Aug 31 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced that a synthetic track costing Rs four crore would be laid at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula so as to provide facilities of international standard to sportspersons in the state.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the opening ceremony of 21st Haryana State Junior Athletics Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex.

Mr Hooda said the state government had prepared new sports policy for promotion of sports and assured all assistance of the state government to provide best available facilities to sportspersons.

He said Rs 40 crore had been especially earmarked to construct sports stadia in rural areas so as to channelise the energies of the youth and provide them an opportunity to exhibit their latent talent.

The Chief Minister announced to give Rs two lakh to the Haryana State Athletics Association, the host of the three day championship.

He also announced one kg desi ghee for each of the participating players in the athletics championship.

As many as 552 boys and 274 girls are participating in the championship.
