Rape accused acquitted
Mumbai, Aug 31 (UNI) A session court here today acquitted a person from the rape charges registered against him in the Shivaji Park police station during 2000.
Additional Sessions judge M S Keny today acquitted one Mohan Bimayya Nandi, presently a resident of Prabhadevi area in Dadar giving him the benefit of doubt.
According to Defence Counsel Samir Pradhan, the alleged accused had taken the victim, a married woman to a Dadar lodge and raped her. She lodged a complaint in this regard with the Shivaji Park police station, three days after the incident.
Defence however, succeded in their contention that victim and accused staying in the same locality had known each other and were lovers before her marriage. She went to the lodge in Dadar along with the accused on her own and had a consensus sex.
The Defence also said one of the close relations of her husband came to know the incident that led her to register the complaint in this regard so as to escape the fury from her husband and in laws.
