Raid on to nab suspended JD(U) MLA
Patna, Aug 31 (UNI) Extensive manhunt had been launched to arrest suspended JD(U) MLA Sunil Panday following issuance of a non- bailable warrant (NBW) in a criminal case related to threatening for extortion.
The MLA was evading arrest since issuance of the NBW on August 29 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Aurangabad.
Police were now contemplating to move the court with a prayer to allow it to attach the property of the absconding MLA.
As per the charges, Pandey and his henchmen had demanded extortion of over Rs 20 crore from a company engaged in developmental work in the state and had threatened the manager of the company with dire consequences if he failed to pay the extortion money.
Meanwhile, a court in Rohtas district today framed charges against Pandey and Dehri District Board Chairman Manish Kumar alias Bittu Singh in connection with a case related to defying the prohibitory orders of the administration and for taking out procession on Januray 16.
