Primacy to Kannada: Case adjourned to Sept 5

Bangalore, Aug 31 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today posted to September five further hearing on the writ petitions, challenging a 1994 Government Order providing primacy to Kannada in primary schools.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph, Ms Justice Manjula Chellu and Mr Justice N Kumar, adjourned the case as arguments remained inconclusive when the court rose for the day.

The said GO was passed by the then Government based on the recommendations of the Gokak Committee and H Narasimiah Committee.

Minority institutions, Unaided Schools Management Association and some others have challenged the GO in the petitions.
