Bhopal, Aug 31 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh National Students Union of India (NSUI) today held a demonstration at the Polytechnic Square here demanding a CBI probe into the death of Ujjain's Madhav College Professor Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal.

Several Congress workers, including state NSUI President Hemant Vagadre and state Congress General Secretary Manak Agrawal, participated during the two-hour-long protest held despite rains.

The Congress accused police of uprooting tents despite the fact that tents were set up after obtaining due permission.

When agitated party workers raised slogans and started to march towards the Chief Minister's residence, police cordoned off and stopped them and took them back to the demonstration site.

Mr Agrawal alleged that police had used force and injured few workers.

Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh described the allegations of removing tents as baseless and added that neither the Congress nor the NSUI had obtained permission to stage a demonstration at Polytechnic Square today.

Earlier, Mr Agrawal said the Chief Minister's ''administrative incapability'' was exposed when he termed the professor's death an accident before the report of CID inquiry into the case arrived.

He accused Mr Chouhan of trying to protect ABVP workers by rejecting post-mortem report, according to which the death occurred due to injuries in an attack.
