Not opposed to reservation for backward classes :BJP
New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) Rejecting the suggestions that the BJP was opposed to reservation to Other Backward Classes in educational institutions, the party today said that it was concerned about the denial of opportunities for them in minority run institutions.
BJP Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the party's Parliamentary Party would declare its stand in Parliament on the aided and unaided institutions but one could not take the eyes away from what had been denied to these classes in the minority run institutions. "We are really concerned about the government adopting double standards and denying the OBCs their share in these institutions", he said.
About the government's claim that the prices were under check, he said it was 'nothing but a joke' because the prices of all essential commodities, edible oil and the petroleum products had all remained where they were. ''It would be fallacious on the part of anybody to contend that prices were under check when every common man was feeling the pinch,'' Mr Javadekar said.
