Nikkei rises on Konica, Rakuten extends losses
Tokyo, Aug 31: The Nikkei share average rose 0.08 percent on Thursday as Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. and other exporters gained ground, after weaker-than-expected Japanese industrial output data sent the yen to a record low against the euro.
Shares of Rakuten Inc. were down more than 3 percent on the Jasdaq market for start-ups, continuing its slide from the previous session.
The Nikkei was up 28.13 points at 15,900.15 as of 0009 GMT.
The broader TOPIX index was up 0.18 percent at 1,615.54.
