NE has best English speaking youth: Governor

Guwahati, Aug 31 (UNI) Asom Governor Lt Gen (retd) Ajai Singh today said the North East had the human resource to emerge as a favourable IT destination.

Inaugurating the three-day NICT 2006, the governor said, ''The North East has the best educated English speaking youth in the entire country. I can say this after working in different parts of the country during my long career.'' The NICT 2006, a job mart of basically IT-based industries, had been organized by English daily 'The Telegraph' and the NASSCOM.

Lt Gen. (retd) Singh said the people were still on the threshold of the IT revolution, which would prove to be another landmark for human civilization.

He lauded the efforts of 'The Telegraph' and the NASSCOM in organizing the job fair cum conference for the second consecutive year.

NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik, also present on the occasion, urged the governor and the government to develop the potential of the region as a perspective IT destination.
