More leptrospirosis cases reported in Surat
Surat, Aug 31 (UNI) Authorities at the health control room at the Government Medical College, here confirmed that at least 20-25 fresh leptospirosis cases were reported today in various hospitals of the city.
However, they also claimed that there was no death today and said that ''things were improving''.
''Severity of the cases have come down and it is better than yesterday's condition'', an official of the Surat Medical College, Dr Vikasben Desai said.
She also said that a medical team from the All India Institue of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) visited several patients in hospitals and inspected laboratory facilities at the New Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Surat Municipal Corporation has suspended Dr D Doodhwala of the Sural Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) Hospital for giving wrong information on the availability of medicines in the hospital.
Sources informed that Dr Dhoodhwala had said that there is a shortage of medicines in the hospital which created panic among the patients.
