Mizoram tops SJSRY scheme implementation

Aizawl, Aug 31: Swarna Jayanti Swa-Rojgar Yogana(SJSRY) scheme, self-employment initiative of the Centre has made a record success in Mizoram, which is top in the implementation list of the programme in the country so far.

Mizoram SJSRY, Project Director, K Thanhlira told media persons here today that so far more than 4000 BPL families were benefitted in the SJSRY scheme, which is a record compared to the other states.

In 2006 alone about 1477 BPL benificiaries from across the state have been self-employed under the scheme in 14 different trades.

He stated that the state government has set up State Urban Development Authority (SUDA) and District Urban Development Authorities (DUDA) in all districts for successful implementation of the programme.

Project director also added that government has so far spent about Rs 122.50 lakhs for the scheme.
