Kamaraj's birthday will be 'Educational Development Day

Chennai, Aug 31 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today introduced a Bill in the Assembly to provide for declaring the birthday of late Chief Minister K Kamaraj on July 15 as 'Educational Development Day.' Introducing the Tamil Nadu Education Development Day (Declaration and Celebration) Bill, 2006, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the Government had been receiving representations from various quarters requesting that Kamaraj's birthday be declared 'Educational Development Day.' It was also stated in the Governor's address to the House on May 24, 2006, that July 15 would be celebrated as 'Educational Development Day' in all schools.

The Government, had, therefore, decided to bring in legislation to give effect to the decision, he said.
