IBM starts new operations in Kochi

Kochi, Aug 31 (UNI) IBM India today commenced new operations here to cater to the unique requirements of the Small and Medium Business (SMB) clients in the non-metros of the country.

Talking to reporters here, Vice President of SMB, Lingaraju Sawkar said the new operations would provide technologies and solutions for small and mid market business to give a competitive edge in the era of globalisation.

IBM's portfolio of products, services and open standards compatability and ISV and partner solutions had the capability to address the growing business issues among SMBs, he added.

Mr Sawkar said IBM had invested in the development of products and services specially for the SMB marketplace under the name 'IBM Express Portfolio' and was comprised of hardware, software, services, solutions and financing.

Through the new operations IBM expanded its reach to 41 cities and would improve accessibility with its clients in Kerala which inlcudes the state government, JRG Securities, IIM Calicut, Dhanalaksmi Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, and Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, among others.

With over 3,000 SMB customers in India, IBM's operations here would target clients in government, banking, healthcare, retail, travel and transportation, he added.
