Human trafficking a social evil: Kant

Itanagar, Aug 31 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Amod K Kant has attributed Human Trafficking as a social crime and is leaving no stones unturned to curb it in the state.

Participating in a discussion on human trafficking here yesterday, Mr Kant described various forms of the crime giving vital statistics which stated that India was the worst affected where 30 out of 100 women were the victims of this menace.

The DGP also said the existing laws were faulty and had to be made stringent.

He also categorically said much is needed to be done to give dignity and solace to the victims of this worst form of crime against humanity.

The DGP felt the need of complete viable alternative in the form of comprehensive rehabilitation programmes for the victims should be supplemented.

"State government and the NGOs need to work in close coordination and create institutions at various strategic locations in the state borders to nip the spreading scourge", he said.
