Harangi site to be developed into tourist attraction

Madikeri, Aug 31 (UNI) As part of its efforts to develop Harangi reservoir here into a tourist spot on the lines of the Krishna Raja Sagar dam, near Mysore, the Karnataka Government has decided to beautify the site and improve its infrastructure at a cost of Rs seven crore.

Official sources said yesterday the government had entrusted the job with a Bangalore-based firm, Subhash and Co through a tender process, after the Cauvery Authority submitted an action plan in this regard.

The plan, which included construction of a lodging facility, swimming pool and musical fountain, besides setting up a garden, was the cherished dream of late Chief Minister R Gundu Rao.

The work was expected to begin in two months, according to sources.
