Environment Protection Squads formed in Punjab
Chandigarh, Aug 31: The Punjab Government has constituted an Environment Protection Squad to keep strict surveillance on industry to ensure the proper implementation of the pollution control laws.
The squad would conduct periodic raids on industrial premises for monitoring the levels of pollution.
Disclosing this here yesterday Minister for Industries and Environment Avtar Henry said the state Pollution Control Board had received many complaints stating that some of the industries were not complying with the provisions of the pollution control laws and rules. He advised the industries to operate their pollution control devices regularly and comply with the pollution control laws.
Strict action will be taken if any industry was found not complying with the pollution control laws and rules, Mr Henry said.
