Central team tours Anand district

Anand, Aug 31 (UNI) A Central team headed by A K Raina was here today to take stock of the extent of flood devastation in the district.

Other members of the team included K C Sashesa and Dr Hegel.

The team visited Khambhat, Jalsan, Sokhda, Bhat Talavdi, Uanvada and Rinza villages. In Bhat Talavdi 70 children were trapped during the floods in a school.

The district Collector B G Jhalavadia through a Powerpoint presentation informed the team in detail about the extent of damage.

It was pointed out that agriculture had suffered Rs 12.8 crore damage, Buldings Rs 15.7 cr, Industry Rs 15.6 cr, MGVCL (electricity company) Rs 10.10 cr and ST Rs 40 cr. The total damage was put at Rs 81.15 crore.

The Central team had a word of praise for the district administration in its handling of rescue and rehabilitation work.
