Buffalo brings catestrophe for the boat passengers

Hajipur, Aug 31 (UNI) A restless buffalo brought eternal rest for 32 boat passengers, who met a watery grave after the boat ferrying them capsized in the Ganga near Jafrabad Ghat in Vaishali district today.

District Magistrate Lalan Singh said here that a buffalo was ferried along with 60 passengers in the boat. When it capsized midstream, 32 people died and over 20 others swam to safety.

Meanwhile, one of the survivors Jageshwar Rai of Jafrabad village told UNI that the buffalo suddenly started jumping when the boat reached midstream.

The boat became unbalanced due to its movement and overturned in the river.

Ferrying of cattles like buffaloes, cows and goats in river are common in the state.
