BSNL offers Onam bonanza to subscribers

Kozhikode, Aug 31: The public sector telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today offered extra talk-time for pre-paid mobile connections, free activation charge and free talk time for new post-paid connections during the Onam festival season.

Talking to reporters here, Principal General Manager Telecom BSNL Calicut C K Radhakrishnan said, valid till September 16, the scheme offers full talk-time for recharge coupon cards (RCC) worth Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 and 25 per cent extra talk value for RCC of 2,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 denominations in the pre-paid category during the period.

Customers opting for new post-paid connection would have the benefit of free activation charge and free talk time of Rs 25, Rs 75 Rs 175 on plans 225, 325 and 525 respectively from the date of activation during the offer period, he added.

The BSNL also offered a 10-20 per cent rebate to defaulters on more than two-year-old dues. This offer will be applicable from August 14 to November 13, he said.

Outlining various expansion programmes, he said Kozhikode Secondary Switching Area would achieve the 'Phone on Demand' status by March 2007.

At present, a total of 26,718 applicants are on waiting list for landline connection in the district, he said. As part of the plan, 43 telephone exchanges in the area would be expanded with installation of 38 WLL BTS, he added.

The department also offered to provide free international standard EPABX system for firms or institutions or housing colonies having 50 or more extensions.'' The cost effective service would be provided by M/S Coral Telecom Ltd in collaboration with the BSNL,'' he added.
