Bill to regulate admission, fees in financing colleges introduced

Chennai, Aug 31 (UNI) A comprehensive legislation, providing for the regulation of admission and determination of fees in self financing professional educational institutions was introduced today in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

According to the statement of objects and reasons, the bill, introduced by Mr K Ponmudy, Minister for Higher Education, provided for constituting committees for admission overseeing and for fee regulation.

The bill authorised the government, head of the department concerned and members of the committees to be constituted to prescribe the manner and method of giving effect to certain provisions of the proposed Act, when enacted and brought into operation.
