Artisans to interact with potential buyers at expo

Vijayawada, Aug 31: A 15-day All India handicrafts expo will be organised here under the auspices of Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC)here from today.

The main objective of conducting the expo is to invite artisans from across the country and facilitate a direct market, ITDC manager A Salai Vasavan and Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Assistant Director I H P Rao said at a press conference.

Mr Rao said the artisans can get to know about the taste of the consumer and orient designs as per the market requirements.

About 20 exhibitions were conducted from April to August this year in various parts of the country, they said and added 100 more would be organised before March 31 next year.

Mr Vasavan said the expos would also be held in Srinagar from September 9 to 23, and in Assam and Kolkata next month.

An All India Handicrafts Bazar would be held in Tirupati from September 21 to 30 in association with AP Handicrafts Development Corporation.
