AP youth deported from London
Hyderabad, Aug 31 (UNI) A 23-year-old man deported from London for not having proper travel documents, was arrested by the city police last night.
Mohd Shafiq was arrested under Section 41 (A) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on grounds of reasonable suspicion.
Police said there were doubts about the youth's academic certificates.
Shafiq, a resident of Akbarbagh in Saidabad and a commerce graduate of Osmania University, had gone to Dubai about 18 months back and was working as a marketing executive.
He applied for admission to the MBA programme in Johnson and Wales University in the US. To complete the admission formalities, he boarded a flight to the US but was intercepted by the immigration officials after landing at London Airport and deported to Mumbai as he did not have the required documents.
From Mumbai, he was sent to Hyderabad. The local police who were alerted, took him into custody on his arrival at Begumpet Airport.
An Inquiry has revealed that a non-bailable warrant had been issued against Shafiq in connection with a case of threatening Malakpet MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy over phone two years ago, after a police team from Gujarat shot dead a local youth Mujahid near the DGP office here.
Later, he had moved the High Court and reportedly secured an order to keep the case in abeyance, police said.
