33 teachers to be honoured in MP

Bhopal, Aug 31: A total of 33 teachers from across Madhya Pradesh will be honoured with President Award and Governor Award on the occasion of Teachers Day this year.

Official sources said 10 teachers each had been selected for Governor's Award for 2005 and 2006 and 13 teachers for the President Award for 2005.

Deviating from the earlier practice to honour the teachers in the next year after their selection, it was decided to present the award in the same year of selection.

Governor Balram Jakhar will present the awards at a function at the Ravindra Bhavan here on September 5.

Teachers selected for President award would be presented Rs 25,000 in cash along with a silver medal, shawl, coconut and a letter of citation. Similarly, the Governor awardees will be given Rs 12,500 in cash along with a shawl, coconut and a letter of citation.
