Sonia to visit flood-hit Barmer on August 31

Barmer, Aug 30: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will visit the flood-hit Barmer district tomorrow.

Ms Gandhi is also likely to visit the Kama town in Bharatpur where 47 people died when a water tank collapsed on Sunday.

The Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, incharge of Rajasthan party affairs Mukul Wasnik and national general secretary Ashok Gehlot are likely to accompany her.

Mr Wasnik has handed over a report on the situation in the state to her.

Ms Gandhi is expected to visit Malwa and Kawas villages in Barmer district. The flood toll in the state has reached 139, with 104 deaths reported from Barmer alone.

However, Congress sources said her programme has not been finalised till now.
