'PM avoiding Hindu saints on Vande Mataram'
Varanasi, Aug 30: A prominent saint from Nasik (Maharashtra) today alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not giving an apointment to Hindu saints to discuss the burning Vande Mataram issue.
Interacting with newspersons here, Mahamandaleshwar of Kailash Mutt (Nashik) Swami Sambidanand Saraswati claimed that members of the Acharya Hindu Sabha (AHS) had sought time from the PM over the Vande Mataram issue, but his office had not entertained the request till now.
The AHS members include, among others, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, he further claimed.
''We wanted to present the viewpoint of Hindu saints over the Vande Mataram and other important issues, but it seems the PM is not interested in talking to us,'' he said, adding that the AHS members were camping in New Delhi for the last five days.
He said the Kailash Mutt was working with many voluntary organisations in Nashik, to ensure that Vande Mataram was recited by one and all at a big ground in the Maharashtra town on September 7.
