Rupee ends flat at 46.50 per USD
Mumbai, Aug 29: The Indian currency today closed flat at Rs 46.50 per US dollar, the flat end is a result of decline in crude oil price to US Dollar 70 per barrel mark and also due to the strong performance of the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex), which breached the 11,700 mark today, said a money market trader here.
Earlier, rupee opened at 46.46/48 per USD and in the mid-morning session it traded at Rs 46.51/53 per USD.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 46.52 per USD as compared to the previous rate of Rs 46.56 per USD.
The six-month forward premia was fixed high at 1.41 per cent and the one-year forward premia was also fixed high at 1.37 per cent.
However, the Rupee performance against other currencies was mixed. Against Euro it was down at Rs 59.48 (59.50), against the Pound sterling it was up at Rs88.17 (88.05)and against the Yen too it was up at Rs 39.78 (39.70).
