Pandits for fresh inquiry into lingam issue

Jammu, Aug 29: Rejecting outright the findings of Justice(Retd) K K Gupta Inquiry Commission in the icelingam controversy at the Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine, pandits in Mattan and Ganeshpora have demanded the State and Centre governments institute a fresh probe into the ''conspiracy''.

The people under the banner of Purohit Sabha Tirath Martand Shri Amarnath Ji also criticised Justice Gupta for trying to defame the Mattan and Ganeshpora people by raising apprehensions in his report about their hand in installation of artificial icelingam at the Holy Cave Shrine.

They demanded a probe by a three-member commission of sitting judges to expose the people and organisations behind the whole conspiracy.

Addressing a press conference here Sabha President Ashok Kumar Sidha said if both the Centre and state government failed to discharge their duties by constituting a fress inquiry commission, the people will hold a dharna and demonstration here and chalk out further strategy to take their movement to every nook and cornny of the country.
