BHU students boycott classes over OBC reservation

Varanasi, Aug 29: Students from 14 faculties and three institutes at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) today boycotted classes over the OBC reservation issue, even as doctors in the national capital have suspended their stir on the issue.

Students in the 14 faculties and three institutes including the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Institute of Technology (IT) and Institute of Agriculture Sciences boycotted their classes throughout the day in pursuance with the boycott call given by 'Youth for Equality.' BHU Youth for Equality convenor Avinash claimed the boycott call was a total success. This success reflected all students of the central varsity and not only doctors and engineers were united over the issue.

University Proctorial Board sources said here the boycott call cast its shadow over the educational activities on the BHU campus.

The boycott of classes did not result in any violence owing to elaborate security arrangements, sources added.

The anti-reservationist students plan to take out a 1.5 km massive march from outside the BHU main gate to Durgakund over the OBC reservation issue.
