Stone India secures order from Defence Ministry

New Delhi, Aug 28: Stone India Ltd today said it has received an initial Defence Freight Car upgradation order from the Defence Ministry.

On completion of the initial 50 Freight Car project, the company expects to receive a bulk order from the ministry , which has over 1000 such cars which need upgradation.

''This marks a major breakthrough for the company in the railway services and project arena and is line with its objective to take the company forward in its value chain migration process,'' a company spokespoerson said.

The ministry for the first time has decided to undertake this work through a private company. Earlier, all such work were executed by Indian Railways directly.
