Pakistan lodges protest with India over ceasefire violation

Islamabad, Aug 28: Pakistan has lodged a formal protest with India over the violation of the ceasefire along the Line of Control.

Pakistan Foreign ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told a press briefing here today that the ceasefire was holding very well but in just two weeks there have been two violations by India, adding ''this is a matter of concern to Pakistan.'' ''In two violations, Indian forces fired at innocent civilians,'' Ms Aslam said.

On the forthcoming NAM summit in Cuba and possibility of a meeting between President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, she said the Pakistan President is likely to attend the NAM summit at Havana in Cuba next month.

''Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will also be there and the two leaders may come across each other,'' the spokesperson added.
