Mizoram receives good rainfall this year
Aizawl, Aug 28 (UNI) As compared to the other North East states, during this monsoon, Mizoram has recorded good amount of rainfall till date.
The record shows that the state received 1016.25 mm (about 40 inches) of rainfall during the period between January and August till date, while during the same period last year the rainfall recorded was only 739.5 mm (29 inches).
With the exception of Sikkim among other NE states Mizoram is still considered to have the best rainfall.
Indian Meterological Department (IMD) register said the annual average rainfall statistics of this year till date indicated that except Mizoram all other six states of the region received deficit rainfall ranging -52 per cent to -14 per cent (minus fifty two to fourteen per cent), according to the regional distributions.
Tripura is lowest in the deficit list while Nagaland is lying in the highest point for this year.
Tripura received (-)14 per cent, Assam (-)33 per cent, Meghalaya (-)44 per cent, Arunachal (-) 49 per cent, Manipur (-)51 per cent and Nagaland (-)52 per cent rainfall upto second week of this month.
The figure further stated that Mizoram has already received about 13 per cent excess (plus thirteen per cent) rainfall in comparision with normal rainfall till date.
