L&T and C&G bag CII award for excellent HR practices
Mumbai, Aug 28: The Larsen&Toubro (L&T) and Crompton&Greeves (C&G) were awarded the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western Region HR (Human Resource) awards for Excellence for the current year at a function held here today.
The award assessment is as per the HR Excellence Model, which is in line with the CII-EXM Bank Business Excellence Model based on the EFQM model of business excellence.
While L&T's Hazira unit's GM (HR), PK Nilosey, was presented the award for strong commitment in HR, C&G's VP (HR), Wiltan Rodrigues, got the honour for the significant achievement made by his company in the field of HR.
Both the awards were presented by the director of strategic alliances and communications of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd Dr Swati Piramal. After giving away the awards, she presented a few case studies of his company and urged the industries of the country to act with a total positive mindset so as to fulfil the dream of the President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, 'Vision 2020' which sees that India will become a developed country by the year 2020.
She said that India and China have developed a new equation in the world today and also have emerged as the Asian tigers whose roar has got shivers to the countries like the USA, she added.
Principal of HR College of Commerce and Economics Indu Shahani, said on the occasion that industry should give product specification to the universities. It would help the universities produce those graduates that are employable. She rued that there lied a huge gap between the industry and the academia which needed to be bridged.
Chairman of CII western region Farhad Forbes, said that there was a clear communication between HR practices and quality services as being delivered by a particular organisaton.
