Jones sets short-course 100m breaststroke world record
SYDNEY, Aug 28 (Reuters) Leisel Jones set a world record of one minute 04.12 seconds for the 100 metres breaststroke at the Australian short-course (25-metre pool) championships in Hobart.
Jones yesterday wiped 0.67 seconds off the previous world record of 1:07.79 set by Tara Kirk of the United States at Texas in March 2004.
Jones also holds the long-course (50-metre pool) record for the 100m and 200m breaststroke and is the reigning world champion over both distances.
