TV has casual viewers while films have focused audierce - Prabhat

Mumbai, Aug 27 (UNI) TV serial and Bhojpuri film director Prabhat Prabhakar says that the major difference between TV serials and films is that serials have casual viewers, while films have focused viewers who have spent money watch it.

Speaking to UNI, Prabhat Prabhakar, who has directed serials like ''KumKum'' by BAG films, ''Shagun'' by UTV, ''Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki'' by Balaji Telefilms , ''Mansha'' by In House Production and ''Aatish'' on Star Plus says that in TV timeline is very important besides quantity and quality should fall in place, which makes all the difference.'' He clarifies,'' There is a huge difference in working for the small and the big screen. The technicalities are different.'' Prabhat, who hails from Bihar, completed his education from the Bharatadu Natya Drama Academy in Lucknow and came to Mumbai in 1993 where he made his directorial debut with a Punjabi serial. There has been no looking back since then. He has worked with the 'cream' of actors both on TV and in Bhojpuri films.

He says,'' I have directed three Bhojpuri films which are ''Lagal Karajwa Mein Teer'', Chali Aaj Deswa Ki Or'' ''Saathi Sanghati'' of which the first was veriy well received by the viewers.

''I started off with Bhojpuri movies because I did not get any Hindi films. But if you observe closely, barring the language, both the films are at par with others,'' he clarifies.

He is all praises for TV actors as he says,'' I salute TV actors for the hardwork they put in to meet the strict deadlines.

He says the same for channel heads too. '' All production houses have a different work culture, but one thing is constant - there is no compromise on quality. The biggest problem is to coordinate the dates of the stars- but despite that the results are good.'' At present Prabhat is concentrating on films and working on scripts and he hopes to direct a Hindi film soon.
