Tension prevails following attack on DPI Volunteers
Pondicherry, Aug 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Nettapakkam near here today following an attack on some Dalit Panthers of India(DPI) volunteers allegedly by Congress workers.
Police said a 25-member strong mob believed to be Congress workers, entered the residences of DPI volunteers and attacked them over the issue of erecting a cut-out of DPI leader Thol Thirumavalavan.
Nine DPI volunteers were injured in the attack and two of them were admitted to the Government General Hospital here.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and an investigation was underway, police added.
Meanwhile, armed police pickets were posted in the village to prevent any untoward incidents.
