Militant escapes from Kashmir jail
Srinagar, Aug 27 (UNI) A militant escaped from the Kunzer police station in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district last night, official sources said.
They said Reyaz Ahmed Khan of Kunzer was arrested by troops of 193 Field Regiment on May 17 this year. One pistol, one magazine and 21 rounds were also seized from his possession that time.
The sources said Khan gave a slip to the policemen and escaped in the nearby forest area.
A massive manhunt has been launched to arrest him, they added.
The sources said action was being contemplated against the errant policemen for negligence and dereliction of duty.
The locals later claimed that Khan was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case.
