KC(M) to observe Sept 12 as 'protest day'
Pathanamthitta, Kerala, Aug 27 (UNI) The Kerala Congress (Mani) will observe September 12 as a 'protest day' against the alleged anti-people policies of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, its Chairman C F Thomas said today.
A decision in this regard was taken at the state leadership camp of the party, which concluded at Adoor today, he said while briefing reporters about the deliberations in the two-day camp.
The camp also planned to hold dharnas at all constituency centres on the same day, he said adding that a fast would also be observed by the youth wing of the party, before the state Secretariat on September 30 to protest against the 'go slow' policies of the LDF Government on Mullaperiyar Dam issue.
Mr Thomas came down heavily on anti-people measures taken by the government. Even the old-age pension sanctioned by the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) Government was yet to be disbursed, he alleged.
Later talking to reporters, Kerala Congress leader K M Mani alleged that the LDF Government had lost its collective responsibility. He also alleged that Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and his cabinet colleagues followed contradictory courses in words and deeds.
Mr Mani said the party would take initiative to streamline the working style of UDF. Discussions would be held with Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala in this regard at Kottayam tomorrow, he added.
