Aizawl, Aug 27 (UNI) The northeast BJP unit today accused the Congress led UPA government of adopting a 'reluctant attitude' towards Islamic fundamentalists in the region.

BJP NE zonal secretary in-charge V Satish told UNI that the international Islamic fundamental organizations were spreading their tentacles in the Northeast.

He said, ''Islamic fundamentalists had spread a wide net across the region and have been actively operating in Asom, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura since long and trying to spoil the secular fabric of other NE states.'' Accusing the state governments of the region as well as the UPA government in the Centre, he observed that most of the NE states were not taking serious measures to tackle the evil forces.

''Bangladesh and Pakistan are imparting training to all the anti- Indian forces in their territory and continuously extending logistic support, which is now becoming a matter of grave concern for us,'' Mr Satish said.

He, however, stated that the activities of Muslim fundamentalism and anti-Indian terror campaigns of the neighbouring countries have come into the fore after serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Both the Centre as well as the state governments in Asom, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya are relucant to tackle Islamic fundamentalism only because of saving the vote bank, Mr Satish underlined.

The leader of BJP said his party will carry out anti-terrorism demonstrations throughout the country and appealed to the public to join them to create awareness against the international forces inimical to India.
