IITD's library books cost over Rs 37 crore

New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Books in the library of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, (IITD) have been valued at Rs 37.48 crore, as per a statement furnished by the institute.

Besides, the IITD received a grant of Rs 60.43 crore from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) for setting up an Indian National Digital Library in Engineering and Science and Technology (INDEST) during 2002-05.

IITD is financed mainly by grants-in-aid from the HRD ministry, Government of India. It also receives grants from other government departments and private bodies for various projects and for the research and development work.

During the year 2004-05, IITD received grants-in-aid of Rs 98.50 crore (Non-plan Rs 69 crore and Plan Rs 29.50 crore) from the HRD ministry.

It received Rs 16.75 crore for R&D under the head ''Corpus Operational Account'' and from other government and private bodies.

The institute utilised Rs 139.72 crore (Plan Rs 33.29 crore and Non Plan Rs 106.43 crore) during the year.
