Hrishikesh Mukherjee is no more
Mumbai, Aug 27 (UNI) Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and legendary filmmaker, Hrishikesh Mukherjee passed away at the Lilavati hospital here this evening after a prolonged illness.
His son-in-law Pradeep Bhattacharya told UNI that the filmmaker, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital for the past two months breathed his last at 1640 hrs today. The funeral will take place on Tuesday after his son who resides in the US reaches Mumbai tomorrow night, he added.
The 84-year-old filmmaker, who epitomised meaningful cinema, was known for some immortal films like Anand, Chupke Chupke, Milee,Guddi, Abhimaan, Khoobsoorat and Namak Haram. His films were an embodiment of simplicity and created magic on screen. In his career spanning nearly 30 years, he had about 40 films to his credit.
