Bharat Airtel signed agreement with Ericsson
Aizawl, Aug 27 (UNI) Leading mobile telecom company, Bharti Airtel has signed an estimated USD 1 billion network expansion contract with Ericsson to extend its services in NE region.
Airtel corporate communication in-charge NE region Anjuli Chittaranjan here today informed the contract aim is to find innovative business models to provide better customer service in 15 Airtel circles. Our partnership with Ericsson will help us to leverage the world class expertise to roll out our networks across all census towns by March 2007.
''The three year service agreement with Ericsson is towards design, planning, supply and installation commissioning of Airtel networks in Indian cities'', she said.
She pointed out that the contract will enable Bharti Airtel to rapidly expand its mobile services footprint further and reach out to all towns and cities in 15 telecom circles in the country.
About the customer service she attributed that Ericsson will also upgrade the network with mobile softswitch (Media Gateway and MSC Servers), the solution that paves the way to an all-IP network, which will be able to reduce the operational costs and introduce new services in a cost-efficient way.
''Apart from the NE states, other places like Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, UP, Punjab, Harayana and Jammu and Kashmir'', she said.
Bharti Airtel Limited is one of India's leading private sector tele- service providers with an aggregate of 25.89 million customers consisting of 24.34 million mobile customers.
