Assembly elections as per schedule in Punjab: Bhattal
Hoshiarpur, Aug 27 (UNI) Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today said state assembly elections would be held at the scheduled time, for which the Congress is ''fully prepared.'' While talking to mediapersons at Tanda near here, she said party tickets would only be allotted to those persons who enjoyed good reputation and were in a position to win.
Replying to a question, she said any pollpact was a subject for the Congress high command to decide. Pradesh Congress Committee would only follow the decision, she added.
She hoped that on account of the overall performance of the state government, Congress would definitely return to power.
When asked about the factionalism within the state unit, Mrs Bhattal said there was no faction within the party. Difference of opinion could be possible among certain leaders, but all are united and are strictly following the decision of party high command,'' the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Referring to the free power supply up to 200 units to Dalits, she said that this decision was being followed strictly from the date of its announcement. In case, if some Dalits had not been benefited and had paid their bills, the amount from the date announced would be refunded to them.
