29 constables to be dismissed in Mizoram
Aizawl, Aug 27 (UNI) Mizoram home department has initiated a move for dismissing the 29 jawans of the 2nd Indian Reserve Police battalion, who ran away from the training camp located at Lailapur.
Home minister Tawnluia here told mediapersons that action has already being initiated against the deserters.
''Those who are found guilty will be dealt with severely'', he added.
Official sources informed that a proposal for their termination from the service has already been moved adding that DGP Lalgheta Sailo has recommended their expulsion.
Yesterday, six of the deserters returned to rejoin their camp at Lailapur, but were rejected by their commandant as they had violated training laws.
Twenty-nine Mizoram 2nd IR battalion personnel, currently undergoing training at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengte, to fight Maoists and Naxals in Chhatisgarh, had deserted their camp on August 21.
Senior police officials believe that the main reason behind the policemen's desertion was their fear of facing the maoists and naxals in Chattisgarh.
