Two held in murder case

Vijayawada, Aug 26 (UNI) The city police arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a photostat machine dealer yesterday.

Addressing a press conference here today, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) M Satyanarayana said B Srinivas (37) was running the business along with his executive- cum-commission agent Y Vara Prasad.

Mr Srinivas warned Prasad against irregularities in duties and money transactions. Irked over this, Mr Prasad hatched a plan to finish him off and sought the help of one Venkateswara Rao alias Buddha Venkanna, the ACP said.

As planned earlier, Prasad allegedly asked Srinivas to come to Repalli on a business matter and they set out on August 11.

As Mr Srinivas did not return, his brother-in-law lodged a complaint and police registered a case of missing.

Mr Prasad and his accomplice Rao were arrested and Prasad confessed to the crime, ACP said.

The body was thrown into Nizampatnam Canal, Mr Prasad said.

The accused were sent to remand, the ACP added.
