SPO, 4 militants killed, arms seized in J
Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) A Special Police Officer (SPO) and four militants were killed while security forces seized arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said today.
He said security forces shot dead a militant during an encounter at Khair village in Banihal area of Doda district last night. An SPO also laid down his life during the gunfight.
An AK rifle, three magazines, 111 rounds and two hand grenades were seized from the encounter site, the spokesman added.
Security forces killed a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant, Dilshad alias Tallah, during an encounter at Dharra village in Marwah area of Doda district in Jammu region last evening.
The encounter erupted after a search party was attacked by the militants, he said, adding an AK rifle and a magazine were seized from the possession of the slain ultra.
Security forces also shot dead a Harkat-ul-Mujahideen ultra, Riyaz Ahmad, at Nagni Neeli village in Gandoh area of Doda district last evening during a search operation. One pistol, one magazine, two rounds, one grenade and a pouch were seized from him.
Another militant was killed by the security forces at Salwah in Poonch district of Jammu region last night. An AK rifle, three magazines, one wireless set, one grenade, 45 rounds and a diary were seized from the encounter site, the spokesman said.
Unknown gunmen barged into the house of Tahira at Sumblar, Bandipora and fired upon her. She suffered serious bullet injuries.
Tahira was admitted to a hospital in Bandipora from where she was referred to Srinagar, he said.
Security forces seized one pistol, one magazine, four wireless sets and 756 rounds from a militant hideout at Sanai in Surankote area last night during a search operation.
Security forces also seized six hand grenades, 132 rounds of pistol (9MM), 529 SLR rounds and one RPG shell from Palli village in Kathua district last night, the spokesman said.
