Royal battle over property turns emotional

Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) The battle royale here has turned emotional with the grandchildren of Rajmata Gayatri Devi asking their grand mother why they were being punished for no fault of theirs.

Devraj Singh and Lalitya Kumari, the children of the late Jagat Singh of the erstwhile royal family of Jaipur in an emotional letter to their grand mother Gaytari Devi, a copy of which is with UNI, said may be the only reason they were disinherited from the property was she ''did not like our mother''.

Dev Raj and Lalitya Kumari replying to Gayatri Devi's reported acknowledgement of the purported 'will' left behind by Jagat Singh asked ''How could it be possible that you were not aware that our father made a will for 9 years... How could you be silent when we asked for help after finding out that our share holding of Jai Mahal was reduced to 7 per cent from 99 per cent''. They said they will not accept the ''will' appearing in the most dubious circumstances nine years after the death of their father, and filing of a case in the Company Law Board.

''Dadima what wrong have we done to deserve this injustice.

Perhaps our parents didn't get along; you didn't like our mother becasue she is strong-minded; but why do we have to take the blame ?'' they asked in the letter sent to her London address.

They said all this show their father in a very poor light. ''You say that he was a kind and sensitive person. So how could he be heartless enough to disinherit his children without taking you in to confidence... We were teenagers at the time and we can't believe that he hated us as you claim rather we know that he loved us.'' They also complained that after their father's death they were left to fend for themsleves. ''When we were young we had no regular income and not once did we get any support from your side''.

They said ''we are not angry because we are your own blood and we do not hold you fully responsible... we hope that you would show some courage and kindness because after all you are our grandmother and we are your blood''.
