RJD to stage dharna on atrocities against minorities

Patna, Aug 26: Lambasting the NDA government in Bihar for its failure to check atrocities on the oppressed sections of the society and the minorities, state RJD announced its decision to stage a district-level dharna on August 28.

Talking to reporters here yesterday, senior RJD leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said here that there was spurt in crime against dalit women during the last few days. He said that the rape of two dalit women in Gaya worked as a dampener to the government as it happened even before the Lakhisarai mass rape case culprits were punished.

RJD would not allow the government to defend its failures by merely taking action against the criminals, he warned.

Mr Khan refuted the allegation of the ruling party that the RJD was moved by the killing of four people.

The RJD leader castigated the NDA government for winding up Amir Das commission and alleged that it was an attempt to protect the ruling party leaders, having nexus with Ranveer Sena.

Taking a potshot on the claim of the NDA government of protecting the rights of the minorities, he said that the state government has failed to provide infrastructural facilities to Justice N N Singh Commission, which was constituted to probe the Bhagalpur riot of 1989.
