Rao to launch 'Shankaravam' from September 8
Hyderabad, Aug 26 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Chief K Chandrasekara Rao will launch the ''Telangana Shankaravam'' from Siddipet on September eight.
Mr Rao, who ended his 'uneasy stay in the Congress-led UPA Coalition at the Centre, will resume the struggle for achieving seperate statehood for Telangana by blowing of conch, Party Legislature Party leader K Vijayarama Rao told UNI.
Ahead of the meet, another senior TRS leader A Narendra, who had also quit the UPA Government, arrived here tonight to mobilise the party cadre for the crucial meet in the home constituency of Mr Rao, who went on an indefinite fast at New Delhi soon after his resignation as Union Labour Minister and subsequently called it off on an appeal from Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and others.
The party supremo would be given a rousing reception when he arrives here on August 30, he added.
Having failed to convince the Congress to grant statehood from within the coalition Government, the TRS would now now concentrate on mounting pressure on it to fulfill the long pending demand of the Telangana people, he said.
A series of meetings would be organised across Telangana, including Warangal, also a hot bed of the separate state movement, he said.
''We will step up the campaign in every village in the next two and-half years and ensure that anti-Telangana parties have no future in the next assembly elections,'' he said, adding the party would strive to improve its strength in Parliament and the State Assembly to achieve the one-point goal of a separate state.
