Rahil slips, Randhawa climbs at Brunei Open

Bandar Seri Bangwan, Aug 26 (UNI) An erratic Rahil Gangjee struggled with his putting and even six birdies couldn't prevent him from slipping to the tied 10th position as he dropped a couple of bogeys and a double bogey to return a modest two under 69 card on the penultimate day of the 300,000 dollar Brunei Open today.

Fellow Indian Jyoti Randhawa had a fruitful outing and the ace golfer carded a three under 68 round to surge to the tied fifth position. At an aggregate of five under 208, Randhawa shares the spot with, among others, Arjun Singh.

Rahil, who was at the fifth spot yesterday was off to a flying start and banged in a birdie at the very first hole. However, he dropped two boegeys on the trot on next two.

He recovered with consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth hole.

On his way back, he hit a birdie on the 11th but it all evened out with a double bogey on the 13th. He recovered towards the end and hit two birdies on the 15th and 17th to finish four shots off the pace leaders.

Aussie duo of Terry Pilkadaris and David Gleeson top the chart at 13 under 200 after the penultimate round.

Among the other Indians in the field, Harmeet Kahlon was at the tied 35th spot with an aggregate of four under 209 while SSP Chowrasia slipped to the tied 56th position with a three-day total of even par 213.
