Pathak report has not held me to be direct beneficiary: Natwar

New Delhi, Aug 25: Former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh today said it would have been healthier if the discussion on the Justice Pathak Authority report in Parliament had been completed.

''I have no regrets. At least the report in Page 81 has given me a clean chit, holding that Mr Natwar Singh is not a direct beneficiary from this deal,'' he told mediapesons after Parliament was adjourned sine die.

Responding to questions about the recent 'Jat Sammelan' at Jaipur, Mr Singh said it has nothing to do with politics.

''The Jat community wanted to honour me for my 59 years of service in government and public life,'' he asserted.

Evading questions on whether he thought any plot was being hatched against him in the party, Mr Singh said that his ''head was up'' and he had ''no doubts on anybody''.

Responding to a question on whether Human Resource Development Minister was to blame for the derogatory projection of 'Jat' community in NCERT textbooks, he said that the Minister was a good friend of his and ''not involved in this''.

''The Jat community is very upset on this but I am grateful that the Haryana government has promptly removed the text book from use,'' Mr Natwar Singh said.
